Young Smanbara Scientist Club: Starting from Innovation Towards a Future Leader

"Everything changes, nothing is everlasting, eternal is change itself," says a famous Greek philosopher trying to express that no one thing is certain in this world except change. Change happens all the time, even every second. The main key to the challenges of change is innovation. Where there is an innovation, that is where the figure of an emerging leader. Leaders and innovation are two things that should always go hand in hand.

Innovative is one item of the Nine Core Value of SMAN Bali Mandara (Sampoerna Academy). Schools with vision creating future leaders with strong moral values, life skills and an awareness of global environmental issues is one of schools in Bali that the values ​​of leadership with the ultimate goal can be scored the leader of the future with concern for global issues and thoughts with high innovation.

One of the many forms of innovation and awareness of global issues for students of SMAN Bali Mandara is through scientific papers. Through scientific papers students can pour all the creative and innovative ideas. As we know, the current global issues really are at the peak fame is back to nature. One important section of this issue is the use of waste as well as the development of renewable energy sources.

Various outstanding works in the field of development of renewable energy have created a lot of creative thinking and innovative idea of SMAN Bali Mandara students. The work of the SMAN Bali Mandara students writing "Young Smanbara scientis Club" last October has successfully achieved prize for Innovation Essay Contest held by PT (Persero) Distribution PLN Bali. In the general category competition, three contingents of SMAN Bali Mandara managed to be the top 10 finalists and competed with other participants, mostly from students and faculties. Contingent SMAN Bali Mandara paper entitled "Utilization of feces in Dormitory SMAN Bali Mandara into Biogas Biodigester Method" won the second, represented by Viona Damayanti, Rama Wijaya and Orna Govinda Jaya. The idea that is so creative appeared because the increasing need for alternative energy development with the raw materials that are cheap and easily obtained. In the development of biogas, the raw material is very abundant in the dorm of SMAN Bali Mandara.

A second contingent was represented by Linda Permitasari, Lilis Mahayani Dewi Sinta and successfully won third place. Innovative ideas of the paper entitled "Hydrogen Power Plant Hydro-Electricity With Methods to Develop Electric Energy Sources in District Kubutambahan" is based on the thought difficult access to electricity in some areas Kubutambahan. Although only managed to be a finalist, the idea of ​​a third contingent, Surminiari and Retno Fitriandari, equally innovative with his work entitled "Efficiency Briquette of Biodegradable Organic Waste as Alternative Energy towards SMAN Bali Mandara GREAT (green, share, care, clean and healthy)". This paper is more focused on the development of alternative energy as a solution of the rare and expensive fuel nowadays. The raw material briquettes are very easy to obtain, the organic waste from the twigs, leaves, and other organic waste.

Clearly it can be seen that these works are based on the concern SMAN Bali Mandara’s students to the environmental issue. However, innovation is not only beneficial for the local area Kubutambahan and Buleleng, but also be very beneficial for global environment. This is certainly consistent with one of the qualifications to be possessed by a leader that think global, act local.

Innovation and creativity will certainly continually to bring a good change for a leader and this country. Concern for the environment that is balanced with innovation is one of the vital needs in the midst of a leadership crisis that hit the country. Through the writing of scientific papers is expected to improve the sensitivity of students especially students of SMAN Bali Mandara on global issues that can be created sensitive leader to any changes that can bring an innovation to meet the challenges and changes.
