HISTORY
SMA N Bali Mandara is an international school established on 8
April 2011 in accordance with the Decree of the Governor of Bali: Bali No.
680/03-A/HK/2011. It is a residential school based on the
mutual partnership between the Government of Bali Province and Putera Sampoerna
Foundation. The Bali Provincial
Government is mandated to prepare the school's physical needs such as land,
buildings and facilities. The Sampoerna Foundation agreed to provide
operational costs such as the salaries of teachers and staff, meals, drinks, books, laboratory equipment,
student uniform clothes, the cost of academic and non-academic activities.
SCHOOL PROFILE
SMA N BALI MANDARA provides full assistance
and international education that guarantees the highest quality of education
for Balinese youth who have excelled academically, and
non-academically, but
for whom access to education is denied due to extreme poverty. It provides a
differentiated program to develop intellectual depth and higher level thinking
as well as nurturing productive creativity and also prepares students for
leadership responsibility and service to country and society. Admission is
awarded on merit and financial need.

Admission of new students involves a three
step process: 1) Written Application, 2) Boot Camp including English language
test, math test, Interview, and focus group discussions,

circumstances and to ensure parental support.

PROGRAMS
The academic programs
in Sampoerna Academy Bali offer both international curriculum of Cambridge
IGCSE and A/AS Level and national curriculum of Indonesia (KTSP). The learning
process is designed to facilitate the students to achieve success, grow in
self-confidence and gain positive self-esteem. It is conducted fully in
English, especially for the core subjects for the international certificates
without disregarding the national and local contents.
The holistic education programs are provided by Sampoerna Academy Bali to enable the students in developing any potentials, interests, talents and personal growth. The programs are Learning to Live (L2L), entrepreneurship and leadership programs. L2L program focuses on improving students’ life skills as well as advancing their talents in non-academic areas. It is divided into four programs; personal well being, art and creativity, community services and global citizenship.
SCHOOL FACILITIES
The facilities in Sampoerna Academy Bali are designed to fulfill the school
needs in all areas including academic and non academic areas as well as the
boarding life. Up to the present time, the school has been equipped with 3
classrooms, a library, chemistry/biology lab, physics lab, office and
dormitories for 75 students. Besides building, the school also is still striving to fulfil the
students’ necessities like books, other learning resources, sports equipments and
other things that can enhance their learning improvements.
